When do you need to install a French drain?

Only when you have a ground water issue.

If you are only having leaking during rain events, then you do not need this system.  You in fact need to determine how water it getting up to your home.

There are several key items to check:

  1. Check all Gutters and down spouts:  No clogs or leaves.
  2. Check that all debris, landscape materials, or retaining walls are removed.
  3. Check if you have changed something outside in the past year, if its forcing water back up to your foundation.
